Nature Journaling

On Friday, January 20th, 2017 our class went
outside to look for tracks in the snow. Karen (our nature journaling teacher)
gave us papers with different tracks on them. She showed us how each animal
moves and the formation the tracks make. Then we went outside. The first tracks
we found were fox tracks. We identified them because they were almost in a
straight line and by the size. On the paper there was a ruler so we could
figure out how big they were.
After
that, we set out looking for more tracks. We found deer tracks, coyote tracks,
and ever a mysterious track. This track was rectangular but the center was
filled in with snow. Not like any other of the tracks. A couple of students
found deer tracks that lead to a half eaten pumpkin that was still out there
from the younger kids ECO class. We recorded the tracks we found and shared
them when we came inside. We had a lot of fun looking for tracks in the woods!
